Raising happy, healthy, well-rounded children has many challenges. Some parents do it with little or no support Parental isolation is rising in New Zealand through:

 

  • Poverty

  • Stigmatisation

  • Parenting on their own

  • Grandparents raising children

These families are often characterised by

 

  • Poor mental health/depression

  • Family dysfunction

  • Family violence

  • Transiency, no home

  • Poor educational outcomes

  • Poor health

  • Social isolation

Sadly government and other formal channels of help are often distrusted by the people they are intending to support

 

Central Baptist Kindergarten (CBK) has a long experience and track record of success in the community and is well respected but wants to be even more effective in helping

  • CBK has been alongside priority families for 40 years. It has transformed dozens of lives and has high respect and credibility in the community.

  • CBK has co-designed a revised initiative, with parents, to have an even greater impact.
