Rachel receiving her award from The Right Honourable Dame Cindy Kiro, Governor General of New Zealand. Rachel was selected as one of 10 Caregivers of Excellence in New Zealand 2025. Rachel was nominated by us here at Woven Whānau for her mahi alongside grandparents and whānau carers here in Whanganui.
Connected is how we come into this world and at Woven Whānau, we believe it’s how we’re meant to live it too. When we share in the journey of raising our tamariki, we weave together a stronger community. This gives us as caregivers the confidence to create stable, loving environments for our whānau.
We are a Whanganui born initiative developed by parents for parents. We are real people, doing real life, creating space to meet people where they’re at with no expectations. We have a heart to see parents and grandparents raising their mokopuna find a place of belonging and receive the help they need while raising their tamariki/mokopuna for as long as they need it.
We believe that thriving whānau are at the heart of healthy communities. When we parent alongside other parents, we feel confident to live our best lives and help others to live theirs too.
